The application Step by Step |
|
Multiple applications exist for DESMOPOL , the section “ Systems of Application ” details the most frequent, nevertheless in all of them it is necessary to bear in mind a series of technical aspects in order for an ideal final result. Next we show the correct way of realizing a standard application.

|
1. Support
To apply DESMOPOL the support must be a continuous surface without crevices or hollows in order to obtain the maximum adhesion of the continuous system of polyurethane. Also the support must be clean, dry and free of pollutants like dust, oil, grease, paint and other superficial treatments. When in doubt it is recommended that you realize tests on the substrate.

2. Preparation of the support
To obtain ideal results we advise that the surface is repaired by filling cracks, hollows and leveling the surface. TECNOPOL puts at your disposal a wide range of products to carry out these operations.
In case of concrete supports, they must be prepared mechanically, raising the grout surface to achieve an open pore textured surface. We also recommend removing weak concrete and surface defects.
Peripheral and auxiliary elements: It is important to evaluate and to verify the state of drains, perimeter walls, facade joints, other buildings, etc. to make sure they are prepared before the application of the waterproofing.
Superficial cohesion: In the rehabilitation of tiled covering, eliminate all the tiles that are not adherent and replace them so as not to lose the flat surface of the covering, also it will be necessary to verify that replacement of the tiles is executed correctly. If previous waterproofing systems exist it is necessary to verify the adhesion of these and to eliminate them if they are in poor conditions.
Important: In case of applying on brick, the use of a geotextile is necessary to reinforce the waterproofing.

3. Priming
In most cases it is necessary to use DESMOPOL PRIMER-PU as bicomponent polyurethane priming to give a better adhesion and to avoid the formation of pores. It must be applied with paintbrush, roller or airless and it is necessary to dust lightly with quartz sand from 0,3 to 0,8 mm.

4. Desmopol Membrane
DESMOPOL can be applied with a projection machine or manually. In both cases it must be applied uniformly. Although it can be applied at a cold and humid time it is preferable that the temperature is between 5ºC and 35ºC and that the relative moisture is below 85%. In case of using a projection machine it must be capable of giving a pressure of 280 bar (4.000 psi) for the length of required hose. In manual applications you simply need to use a paintbrush or roller and rubber floor squeegee.

5. Finishing (optional)
Once finished applying DESMOPOL , and preferably before 76 hours have passed, it is advisable to give one or two layers of aliphatic polyurethane finish DESMOPOL ADY to guarantee the stability of the desired color. DESMOPOL ADY is also necessary in surfaces that need resistance to wheeled traffic as well as for the waterproofing of other surfaces that require chemical resistance.
